OUTBREAK OF PARVOVIROSIS IN THE ALGARVE

During the last couple of days, we have received some cases of parvovirus. 

If your dog is not vaccinated against this virus, please avoid taking the dog outside as well as contact 

with non-vaccinated dogs.

Symptoms:

• Diarrhoea (may contain blood)

• Anorexia (loss of appetite)

• Dehydration

• Vomiting (may contain blood)

•Weight loss

• Fever

Over the last 2 weeks we have had several cases of parvovirus in dogs. 

Two of the unvaccinated dogs died, despite intensive treatments. 

Parvovirus destroys the intestinal lining and the bone marrow, thus wiping out the 

immune system (like chemotherapy drugs).

Please be careful with your dog around!
